3¢ first regular issue

On 24 October 1951 — United Nations Day — the Organization issued its first postage stamps. It remains the only body that is neither a state nor a territory licensed to do so.

This cover bears a block of four 3¢ stamps showing the United Nations flag. The ArtCraft cachet prints a photograph of the Security Council in session, the same design used across this first-issue series.
