Genesis

WFUNA issued Genesis on 2 October 1992, with the United Nations stamps Science and Technology for Development. This impression is 106 from an edition of 500, on Essex rag paper, 11 by 8½ inches, signed by Saul Mandel. A 29-cent New York stamp is cancelled first day on the print itself.

Mandel (1926–2011) designed that set of six United Nations stamps, and the accompanying WFUNA print. He is also the draughtsman of the Jolly Green Giant and of the 1986 United States LOVE stamp. The Federation’s sheet, signed for WFUNA by Annabelle Wiener, reads the flowers from the globe as a sign of hope.
